News From The General Manager, Sean O' Driscoll…

Greetings to all our loyal blog and facebook followers and welcome to those who have joined us since our last blog.

On Tuesday 19th, we had a hotel full of Bryan Adams fans. Bryan was playing an Acoustic concert in the INEC and by all accounts it was a fantastic show. A little bit of trivia - Bryan was one of the first celebrities to stay in our Presidential Suite when he played in Fitzgerald Stadium in June 2004. The Brehon opened on 15th June 2004.

Then on 23rd January, Karl Henry of Operation Transformation fame hosted The Brehon Boot Camp. Over 50 participants joined Karl for the Workshop on the day, which covered every aspect of healthy living. We have since been inundated with requests to have Karl back, so I promise that when we do, you will be the first to know.

Also in January, Sophie Linehan of the Sunday Independent's Life Magazine reviewed her stay at The Brehon. Once again the team at our Restaurant "Danú" delivered. Highlights for Sophie were the Pan Seared Scallop and Caramelised Pork Belly, The Duck Breast with Pickled Cabbage, Poached Pear and Black Cherry Jus and not forgetting our pastry chef Will King's delightful chocolate Trio. Peter and his team at Danú are offering great value dishes, but are not compromising on the quality and the reviewers seem to agree.

Every year there is intense competition among the various departments in the hotel to see whom our guests rated as the best in terms of quality in the hotel comment cards. This year was no different, with the Team at Danú, battling with the Angsana Spa, Housekeeping Department, Reception Team & Room Service Department for the coveted title. Although it was a tight battle, the Housekeeping Team came out on top yet again. Numerous Comment Cards this year highlighted not only their exceptional standards, but also their exceptional friendliness. Thank you, the guests for taking the time to give us your feedback, it means a great deal to the team here to receive your views.

On February 26th, we have our 5th Annual Employee Appreciation Lunch, where we reward our colleagues who you, our guests nominate as being superb ambassadors for The Brehon. Last year our overall winner received 66 mentions on comment cards, so it is certainly a great achievement to come out on top. I will be announcing the winners in my next blog.
