In ancient Ireland, bees were so revered that they had their own law tract called Bechbretha, or “Bee Judgements.” Bechbretha provides insights into early beekeeping practices, including references to methods such as using a spread cloth to capture swarms.
Today, with environmental concerns mounting, the preservation of bees, particularly the western honeybee, has become more critical than ever, highlighting the enduring importance of these remarkable creatures in our ecosystem.
